How to Fake Being Awake

I don't know about you, but I'm definitely not a morning person. I love having a lie-in so when I have to wake up early, for school for example, I need as much help I can get to help me look more awake than I am.

Concealer
To conceal and hide those dreaded dark circles under my eyes, I like using a brightening concealer. Try to pick a shade a little bit lighter than your usual skin tone so that it really brightens the under eyes. The Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer is a great concealer if you are looking for something with a bit more coverage. However, my favourite is the Rimmel Wake me up Concealer (very fitting name as well!) This concealer has tiny shimmer particles in it (don't worry it's so small you can barely even see it)  which really helps to brighten and bring light to the area where you apply it.

Highlighter
A liquid highlighter is also very useful for making you look more awake. You only need a small amount and it will illuminate your cheekbones and make your skin look glowing. I have done a post all about Glowing Skin which you can read here.

Eyes
For the actual eye makeup, using a nude or white eyeliner on your water line can help cancel out any redness and instantly brighten up your eyes. The two eyeliners I have are the Rimmel Scandel Eyes Kohl Eyeliner in 'Nude' and the L'Oreal Colour Riche Eyeliner in 'Immaculate Snow'. They are both creamy and pigmented so it is very easy to apply.

Another way to make yourself appear more awake is by wearing a brightening eyeshadow. You can put a white shadow on the inner corner of your eyelid  which will open and brighten up your eyes. I like to use a shimmery colour all over the lid, such as the Collection Work the Colour Eyeshadow Pencil in 'Vintage Blush' This is so quick and easy to use, which is always handy in the mornings when you don't have much time for makeup.

So those are all my tips on how to Fake being Awake. I hope you enjoyed this post, thank you for reading!

MUA Undressed Palette - Naked Palette Dupe

So I'm pretty sure we've all heard about the Naked palettes by Urban Decay. Every beauty lover has them or is dying to get their hands on them, well I know I certainly do. But why spend £40 when you can get something really similar for £4? Yes, it probably won't be the same, but the colours are very similar if you ask me. If you haven't guessed by the title, this post is going to be on the MUA Undressed eye shadow palette as it is supposedly a dupe for the Naked 1 palette. Sadly, I do not own any of the Naked Palettes, so this may not be entirely true, I am just basing it on what I can see in photos and what I have heard other people say.

For £4 you get 12,  highly pigmented eyeshadows with a mix of mattes and shimmers. I think the main reason this palette gets compared to the Naked palette is because of the colours, they are pretty much identical and also go in the same order as the Naked 1 palette. The eyeshadows are extremely pigmented, the shimmers more than the mattes. My favourite shades are Shade 2, 5 and 9. I think 2 and 9 really work well together as they both have pink undertones. I am a bit disappointed in Shade 3 as it lacks pigmentation a lot.

The packaging is pretty much what you pay for, but I guess it's the eyeshadows that are what you are actually using so it shouldn't matter too much. In the palette you also receive a little sponge type applicator which I don't use at all. I really recommend looking at the MUA palettes if you are just starting out in makeup or you don't want to spend about £40 on the Naked palette but you just want the colours in it. I think MUA also do an Undressed Me Too palette which is apparently a dupe for the Naked 2.

The only negative things I have to say about the MUA palette is the packaging which I've already mentioned. But also that the eyeshadows do leave a lot of fall out under your eyes when you apply it, but it can easily be swiped away.

I really think these MUA palettes are worth a buy as you get 12 amazingly pigmented eyeshadows for only £4, its hard to go wrong. If you've tried these out tell me what you think of them! I hope you enjoyed this blog post, thanks for reading and have a nice day, bye!

Back to School Beauty Preparation Tips

I know, just the thought of school makes you want to bury your face in your pillow and hope that it's the beginning of the holidays again. But unfortunately, school is just around the corner and we have to go back sooner or later. Instead of writing a post about how terrible school is, I thought I would get you excited and tell you my tips to prepare yourself for back to school!

Beauty Preparation Tips

Now you could choose to go back to school looking like you have had no sleep at all and you just crawled out of bed. You might have a school photo so these tips might help to make you look fresh and ready for the new school year. These are some things I like to do before I go back to school.

Skin
- Use a face mask the night before to help soothe, calm and cleanse your skin. This will help to clear out your skin if you are having any break outs
- During the last few days of the holidays try not to wear a full face of makeup, let your skin breathe. Makeup can clog your pores which can cause breakouts and I'm sure you all hate those nasty spots just like me and you wouldn't want them on the first day back!

Nails
- Try to remove your nail varnish around 3-5 days before school, if you remove it the night before the nail varnish might've stained your nails and that takes a few days to disappear. (Trust me, once my nails were stained from a red nail varnish, not a nice sight.)
- If you're like me and you hate it when your nails chip becuase they are brittle and weak, trim and file your nails a few days before so they have time to grow back healthily. If you keep you're nails long and you don't trim them often they are more likely to chip.

Eyes
- I know we all hate going to bed early and waking up early, but if you have been going to bed at 12 every day and waking up at noon, you probably won't be able to go to bed at 10 and wake up at 7 for school. This is because your sleeping pattern has changed, try to go to bed and wake up earlier and earlier each day (around a week before you got back to school) to slowly adjust your sleeping pattern. You want to get as much sleep or you will be haunted with the dreaded puffy under eye bags, well I at least I will.
- This is probably just me, but over summer I give up on taming my brows so I normally just let them grow out and become bushy. So I tend to neaten them up by plucking the odd out of place and mononbrow hairs before I go back to school.

So that is all my back to school preparation and tips. I hope you enjoyed this blog post and thank you for reading. Have a nice day, bye!
